Packin' Again

It's been a month since I came back home and I can't wait to go away again. Unfortunetely for now, I'm settling in Brazil as the rising dollar fucked my plans to hit the road again by the end of the year. But instead of gettin' angry, I decided to get drunk! hahahahaa So I'm headin' to Oktoberfest, well, the brazilian version of it at least.. which is actually the second largest in the world! So I've been kinda busy gettin' everything ready for the trip and I should be leaving Sao Paulo in 3 days.. Ein Prosit!!! \o/

Screw California..

"She looks at him and smile, but the smile fades away. She kisses him for the very last time.. and she walks away."

the end.

buggin' me

Another night. Another night club. Few more drinks and lots of stories to tell. Today was Leticia's goodbye party, so we all went to Bufallo Bills. Everyone got drunk, except for Fabio, but that's usual =P Tomorrow Leticia goes back to Brazil and I move back into my old room.. I like Rico's room better, but if I change, I'll have my OWN room and that's something really precious here in Whistler =) So, yeah, I'm back to Emerald States afterwards. White Gold didn't work out 'cause Lowri gave up moving and I just couldn't afford that room by myself. I'm kinda sad about it, 'cause it was such a great location and I was enjoying riding the bike and walking everywhere. Plus I was living 10minutes from my best friend, Alejandro. The other day we met around midnight and went for a ride with bikes and some vodka. While everybody else was sweating at Bill's dance floor, we were riding into the woods, drinking, laughin' and having a fuckin' great time like I haven't had for a very long, long, time. We stayed up until 4h30am and it was just perfect..
Today I said goodbye to Tom, an english guy that was working with me at the store. He is a great guy and I`m gonna miss him and his jokes.. :( I`ve been working quite a lot, 10 days straight without day-off so far.. and I`m loving it! I need money and it`s fun to work there, so why not take some extra shifts, right? Btw.. I'm already counting the days to the Pemberton Festival! I bought 2 tickets to see sunday's line up.. and despite i'm broke now, I really think that's goin' to worth the trouble =P
... anyway, I'm tired, sleepy and can't think of anything else to say, so...
goodnight! =]

Just got off work and I'm in the village hangin' out and waiting to rent a bike for my day off. I bought my laptop and I'm still amazed about how fast I got the lift and even more, how nice the guy was. I guess I was kinda expecting to be murdered, dropped off in the wrong city, kidnapped or whatever.. hahaha. Hm...I've got a job as well. I've been working in a kids clothing store and it's really damn nice! My boss is great, my co-workers are super nice, the job is easy and I can put my ipod to play in the store while I read a book and wait for my shift to end. No, I'm kiddin', I work a little bit sometimes! =P What else? Oh, I still didn't find place to stay, well, I could go back to Emerald.. but do I really want to live that far again? I'm kinda couch surfing in White Gold this week while I think about where do I want to move in. White Gold is cheapear, closer, but the room is super small, I would have to share with a girl that I just met, plus house is a mess, well, I mean, a FUCKIN MESS! hahaha But really, it's way too dirty outside 'my room'. In the other hand there's Emerald, which is far, costs more and have way too many memories, which can bring me down sometimes.. But I certainly love to walk by the Green Lake on a sunny day and the house is big and is gettin' empty, so I would pretty much have my own room there, as half of the people are gone now. Tough decision.

I read this somewhere I can't remember, but I guess it suits the week perfectly.. It goes like this:

I am lonely,
Even though you can't tell.
I am reaching out..
For what? I don't know.
I will continue to sit in silence,
And hope that someone may stumble across
Me and all of my emptiness.
But I only hope that they do it in time,
Otherwise I will have drifted too far
And I may let go
Of whatever grasp of the world I have,
As I slowly fade out..

Thumbs Up

Woke up 10 minutes ago, slept on the couch.. don't really remember when I decided to sleep there, but it wasn't that bad. I had some weird dreams, in a good way, the kind of dream where everything you ever wanted to happen, happens. If I could only skip the waking up part, would be even better..

Anyway.. I'm goin to Vancouver in a few minutes to buy (finally!) my laptop. I shouldn't go, I'm super broke, but I just can't help it. Gonna hitchhike to save some money. Damn it, it seems to be pretty windy outside, hope that won't take me so long to get a lift..

Bye.

"Back To California" - Sugarcult

How long I’ll wait
Just to say goodbye
Ten different ways to enjoy this night
Can’t do this anymore
Won’t feel you anymore

How long I’ll wait
Just to say goodbye
You could never let me in
Holding on until the end

The time I waste just to say goodbye
Out of your way
I could do this right
Can’t see you anymore
Won’t feel you anymore

How long I’ll stay
Just to say goodbye, say goodbye

Leave it all the fights and all
Summer’s getting colder
Drive all night to hold you tight
Back to California
Days went by
We waited and I guess we’re getting older
We couldn’t win in the end

You’re gone
I’m miles away
Turning out your lights
Ten different ways I could end this night
Can’t do this anymore
Won’t feel you anymore

How long I’ll wait
Just to say goodbye, say goodbye

Leave it all the fights and all
Summer’s getting colder
Drive all night to hold you tight
Back to California
Days went by
We waited and I guess we’re getting older
We couldn’t win in the end

You’re gone

Back To Whistler

So, here I am, back in Whistler! Surprise!!! hahaha But seriously, who would guess, huh? Chris is somewhere in Chile now and the car is still in Quebec, for sale. I left Saint-Hyacinthe last Friday, went to Montreal for a concert (Death Cab For Cutie - which was AMAZING!), took the flight the next afternoon and made it to Vancouver on Saturday night. Bia and Ale picked me up in downtown and we went to Carol and Fabiano's place. I didn't get any sleep in the hostel or the plane, so I was pretty tired and had to give up partyin' that night.. which I regret, since it was Russ last day in Vancouver (who I accidentaly ran into when I was just passing by Burrad St.) and Carol's birthday.. but when you can't, you can't. I spent 2 great days in Vancouver with all my friends and we had a lot of fun, but probably that was the last time the 5 of us were together.. at least until October, i guess.

Anyway, things did and can still go wrong.. but still, I just can't wait to see what happens next :)

The 3nd

I'm sorry I didn't updated this shit blog to tell how was the end of the trip. Things turned out quite okay about that. It took us 4 days to spin around those 3 last provinces and I have to say, I didn't see that coming, but I fell in love with Quebec City.. PEI is also pretty cool, and I wish I could go back there with a bit more time and it stick around. Well, with more time and by foot, since the Confederation Bridge charges around $40 for you to get back to New Brunswick. At least they don't charge you to get there, but we went by ferrie, so we saved some gas.. and it was fun! But that's it.. i don't feel like telling too much about the trip since it was a while ago and I'm busy with other plans at the moment. But the road trip was amazing and I'm really glad we did it, even though we went by some really rough times, it totally worth it..

''50% chances, huh?'' :)

Half Way

As I was saying before.. on our way to Winnipeg we got stopped by the cops, and as if one police car wasn't enough, another one came along and parked just ahead of us, while the first one was right after. We knew we were screwed but, as we waited for the woman to come back with our papers, we couldn't stop laughing and I don't know why. Maybe was because the whole situation looked so surreal or maybe because we knew that was goin' to happen sooner or later at some point of our trip, since we were crossing provinces around 150km/h. Anyway.. wasn't funny when we got a $400 dollars speeding ticket (I thought it would be a lot cheaper..), so we drove away to Brandon and barely spoke on the way.
After a quick stop and some phone calls we decided to keep on goin' with our plan and we made it to Winnipeg that night. The next morning we walked the city and left in the afternoon headin' to Thunder Bay. It was a quite boring drive, so I thought it would be fun to pick up a hitchhiker by the road. The car was a mess, but we managed to find a seat for the stranger and kept goin'. His name was Tavvy and he told us he was goin' to Toronto to see his mother and he was hoping to get there by Sunday (mother's day). We stopped in Dryden to eat and an old couple tried to convince us to find a place to sleep, since the road is a lot more dangerous at night, with animals crossing and truck drivers sleeping on the wheel. But we didn't find a cheap place to stay or a gas station, so the guys decided we should keep on driving to Thunder Bay. The road was really shit, the car brakes got worse, we were running out of gas and the hitchhiker was probably more scared than us (as he kept saying 'slow down, slow down'), but somehow we made it to Ignace just in time to get enough gas and keep goin'. We arrived in Thunder Bay really late, around 3am and asked around for a place to stay. The guys picked a hostel in the phone book and we drove there. The hostel looked like nothing but someone's house, and this grumpy lady in her rob answered the door and asked for the money straight away. We didn't have any cash, so we had to find a bank and come back.. The house was a mess, with lots of cats, but it felt like home somehow.. I slept so good that night!
The next day we took the car to a service centre, as we figured out we had absolutely NO oil at all in it.. we spent approximately 30 bucks on oil change and drove back to the hostel, where we had dinner and some beers. We left the next day headin' to Sault Ste. Marie and drop off the hitchhiker somewhere along the road. Chris decided we should do it, otherwise he would join us all the way down to Toronto and that could hold us back somehow.. Well, call it karma or just bad luck, but after that we got pulled over by the cops again! Another speeding ticket? ''Fuck, not again..!'' Yeah, there goes another $227 dollars..
We made it to Sault Ste. Marie, slept there for the night and drove away next afternoon to Toronto. But that was just after trying to cross the bridge that connects Canada and USA, which I just realized it was a bad idea when we were half way from the border, as Chris reminded me that when we'd turn the car back we'd have to handle our passports to Canada immigration to cross it back.. and lalalala, I got my visa extended but it's not with me just yet. Long story short, nothing happened.. i didn't even had to show any ID at all :)
We made it to Toronto the next morning and left the car for repair, while we walked downtown. It costed almost $500 to fix it, not much if you take for consideration how much your life worths and depends on the brake pads of an old car.. right? Yeah, I'm still trying to convince myself that we couldn't finish the trip without those new brakes.. so, shut up! :/ We spent another day in Toronto, I met my ex-boyfriend's friend, Gabriel, a brazilian guy who lended me a couch last year when I went to Toronto for a concert.. He still looks exactly the same, lovely as usual and even more funny. He tried to help me to pick a laptop, but in the end I didn't buy it 'cause I was afraid I would need the money later (in Quebec), since my chances to find a job without a work permit and without speakin' french are pretty much zero..
We drove away to Ottawa the next day, Canada's capital. I didn't think I'd like it that much, but the city is kinda pretty, with lots of green areas and a nice lake that separates Ontario and Quebec. I was glad to spend the whole day walking Ottawa, but at the same time I couldn't wait to get outta there. After 12 days on the road, I didn't feel like I could wait much longer to get to Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec, where I'd meet Ben again, after 1 month apart.. We made it to Saint-Hyacinthe that night and I waited for Ben to get home so I could knock on his door and surprise him, since he had no clue I was there.. I was so happy to see him again that I barely remember what we said as he opened the door :) We spent 2 or 3 days there and went to Montreal for the weekend. Even though sometimes I felt really bored and out of place there, it was really nice.

Now I'm packing my stuff again and I'm on my way to Halifax. I convinced Chris to join me and we think it should take 3 or 4 days more to actually finish crossing Canada, as we have 3 more provinces to get to: New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia.

Wish us luck! :)

On The Road

It's been a while, and since my last post a lot happened. I don't even know where to begin, my last days in Whistler were quite.. hm.. (I can't seem to find a word here to describe it). Somewhere between putting a piercing on, visiting Vancouver with my friends, gettin' drunk and being pulled over by the cops twice, I just realized how happy I was there and how much I liked my friends. I didn't expect to get THAT attached to anyone there though. Leaving Whistler was one of the hardest things I've ever done..

My plans to hit the road on May 1st had to be changed, and I ended up leaving Whistler 2 days behind schedule. Surprisingly, I was more than glad about that. I said my goodbyes, put my stuff in the trunk, started the car and against my will I drove away, secretly hoping for something else to go wrong forcing me to go back, but nothing happened. We headed towards Pemberton direction and made it to Lillooet and Kamloops on the first day, driving only 330km. We parked in a gas station along the road, still in Kamloops and slept in the car. It was freezin' and I didn't get much sleep. We woke up, took a shower, had breakfast and left around 7am, headin' to Jasper, as suggested by some lady we met at the gas station. Jasper was quite boring, so after a while we left and went to Athabasca Falls, which was good and really funny. We decided to go to Lake Louise, but before we get there, Chris spotted a bear along the road, so we stopped and tried to get as closer as possible, was so cool! We made it to Lake Louise in the end of the afternoon. I was really pissed to find out that the stupid lake was still frozen. We were so bored that we broke into Fairmont Hotel, went to the 6th floor and did a stupid video about it. It was kinda funny. We moved to Bannf afterwards and slept in a hostel. I really needed some quality sleep after driving for 10 hours (stops included), which means 784km. The next day we walked the whole town (as if it was big hahaha) and stopped by Canmore, a city 30km away from Banff. We didn't find anything reallyyyyyy interesting over there so we went back to the highway and made it to Calgary. Hm.. what's to say about Calgary? It's a city just like any other, with lots of stores, restaurants and of course, where it's really hard to find a place to park for free. We spent the night in the car again, in another gas station and left in the morning headin' to Saskatoon instead of Regina, what would have been probably easier, since there's no highway to Saskatoon. The driving was boring, with straight road all the way, which forced me to stop and get lots of coffee :) Before we get to Saskatoon we stopped by Drumheller, a bizarre town who claims to have the world's largest dinosaur! It was really funny to see plastic dinosaurs all over the streets and corners! It's SO ridiculous that you just can't stop laughin'!! We took some pictures and drove away to Saskatoon, which was a quite nice city. Spent another night in the car, parked in another gas station and woke up this morning feelin' like shit, since I didn't get much sleep.. Guess I can blame it on the cold weather. Right now we're in Regina City, headin' to Winnipeg.. we stopped here to check the car, but it would take the whole day and it would be quite expensive to fix whatever is wrong with it. It seems the brakes are not so good and the wheel and tires are kinda weird too, but if we made it here, we can make it to the next city as well. From now on it's goin' to get really boring since there's not a lot to see in the middle of Canada, but I'm sure we're goin' to find stupid things to do and strange little towns to stop by. I'm having a really great time and I have so many funny stories to tell. It's a real shame that I'm not able to post here as often as I wish, and even worse, that I don't have much time to really tell how it has been like and what happened until now. To read it like this must sound not quite exciting, but it has been truly amazing so far. I wish I had time to explain more and share my thoughts with whoever is readin' this right now.

Anyway.. greetings from the road!! \o/

Another Sleepless Night

Yay! Got some wireless signal from one of our neighbors and spent the last 2 or 3 hours surfin' the net! The best part of it is that I don't even need to worry about goin' to bed any time soon, since I don't have a job anymore.. lalalala =P Plus, everybody's sleeping already! Including our 5 or 6 guests.. It's sooooo peaceful here! Today I went up the Blackcomb mountain with Bianca and Alejandro, the snow was fucked up, but I had fun anyway and made some really nice turns. After Bianca went home, me and Alejandro decided to go up to Glacier, but I had trouble with the stupid fuckin' T-bar and fell when I was almost gettin' up there. I tried to hike, but my lungs are shit and at some point I just couldn't breathe anymore, so I quit. We went down and then everything became foggy, I fell down on my head when we were almost gettin' to the Village, it was sooooo bad!! I think that was actually the first time EVER that I cried up there! hahahaha =P

PS. Hey, I'm alright, of course! :)

Strange Days..

Whistler is starting to look more and more like when I first got here, last year, just before winter. While everybody's excited about spring, I just can't wait to get outta here. I've been trying to keep myself busy since I quit working, but it's kinda hard once you have no money and live in a small town. The morning after Ben went away, I actually made it to Pemberton. It was such a nice day and I just felt like driving away. There's nothing special there, except for some really great spots to stop along the road. Damn, too bad I forgot to take my camera..
The day after that, I went to Four Seasons Housekeeping party at Brewhouse and later on Buffalo Bills. It was really nice to see everyone and the night at Bills was pretty good! Well, maybe TOO good, since I ended up wasted and Alejandro had to drive me home.. but that was just after we spent almost 20min freezin' and looking for the damn car, as I couldn't remember where I parked it earlier.. The next day we went to Squamish, stopped along the way to make a short trail and spent the whole afternoon at Wallmart. We couldn't believe how cheap things are there and I almost went crazy shopping, but then I remembered that I needed to start saving money for the trip, so I just bought food.. damn it! We got back around 6 or 7pm, it was raining so much that I ended up stayin' at home..

God, I'm sooooo BORED! >.<

Ben Is Gone..

As the months turned into weeks and weeks turned into days, I found myself trapped in a no-winning race against time. Ben went back to Quebec yesterday as we both knew he would. We spent our last day together in Whistler, went to a paintball game with some crazy people from Four Seasons, packed his stuff and drove around at night to get some pizza. We got stucked after parking in front of the museum to eat. The damn car wasn't starting, the key was stucked and everytime we tried to start it, we got nothing but some panel lights and annoying sounds. I was fuckin' freezing and worried about how to get outta there and how much would it be to fix that piece of junk, when Israel came and saved the night just ten minutes left to get to the bus loop. Ok, except for the fact that the car is fuckin' haunted, there was nothing wrong with it.. The thing is, I'm not used to drive automatic cars and I didn't notice that I forgot to put the gear in P when I stopped. I felt so stupid, but I was so glad that the car wasn't broken that I didn't really care.
As we got there the bus arrived.. earlier than expected, so I had no time to say good-bye, which I guess, in a certainly way was for the best, as I'm sure I would have cried a lot.. So I walked back to the car, waited for their bus to go and then drove away. I tried to get to Pemberton, a city 30km from Whistler, but it was 4am and I was falling asleep on the wheel, so I figured that would be better to turn around and go home..

"The District Sleeps Alone Tonight" - The Postal Service

Smeared black ink... your palms are sweaty
And I'm barely listening to last demands
I'm staring at the asphalt wondering what's buried underneath
Where I am
Where I am

I'll wear my badge... a vinyl sticker with big block letters adherent to my chest
That tells your new friends I am a visitor here...
I am not permanent
And the only thing keeping me dry is
Where I am
Where I am
Where I am

You seem so out of context in this gaudy apartment complex
A stranger with your door key explaining that I am just visiting
And I am finally seeing
Why I was the one worth leaving
Why I was the one worth leaving

D.C. sleeps alone tonight

Where I am
Where I am
Where I am

You seem so so out of context in this gaudy apartment complex
A stranger with your door key explaining that I am just visiting
And I am finally seeing
Why I was the one worth leaving
Why I was the one worth leaving

Where I am
Where I am
Where I am

The district sleeps alone tonight after the bars turn out their lights
And send the autos swerving into the loneliest evening
And I am finally seeing
Why I was the one worth leaving
Why I was the one worth leaving
Why I was the one worth leaving
Why I was the one worth leaving..

The Car

So we bought the car! We made it to Vancouver, made some calls and went to Surrey. I know it sounds quite stupid getting the first car you see, and I have to admit, we didn't even check the car.. well, I mean.. we checked the tires, started the car and drove it around, but besides that we really didn't know what to look for. Neither me nor Chris understand shit about cars and it took so long to get there that we knew we had no time to be picky. The minivan is kinda rusty, but what can you expect to get for a thousand dollars? =D Surprisingly, it runs really well. I drove it back from Surrey to Whistler that night and it was soooooooo nice!

I guess I didn't realise how much I missed driving at night..

The Search

Meeting Chris in a few minutes and heading up to Vancouver, so we can look for a really cheap car for the trip :)

I explain later..

Hello

Tired to wait for some free time to start a blog..

DONE.
